Abstract: J. Edgar Hoover, the former FBI Chief, is reported to have had a great aversion to left turns arising from th time his chauffeured car was hit while attempting a lft-hand turn. Thereafter, particularly when the old lawman visited a new city, the driver had to work out the route in advance to avoid making left turns.
