Abstract: This paper is intended as a convenient summary of some results in queuing, which in the author's opinion would be of value to investigators applying the theory to operational problems. The paper is neither intended as an elementary introduction, nor is it an exposition of the techniques used in deriving the results. The main purpose is to present results and briefly point out fields of activity to which the theory has been applied. The basic ideas of the subject of waiting lines will be introduced by means of the following example.

Keywords: Queue theory, Waiting lines
