Thomas L. Saaty
Thomas L. Saaty before he passed away in August 2017 was a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, where he taught in the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. He is the inventor, architect, and primary theoretician of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), a decision-making framework used for large-scale, multiparty, multi-criteria decision analysis, and of the Analytic Network Process (ANP), its generalization to decisions with dependence and feedback. More recently he generalized the mathematics of the ANP to the Neural Network Process (NNP) with application to neural firing and synthesis.
Prior to coming to the University of Pittsburgh, Saaty was professor of statistics and operations research at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1969–79). Before that, he spent fifteen years working for U.S. government agencies and for companies doing government-sponsored research. His employers at that time included the Operations Evaluation Group of MIT at the Pentagon, the Office of Naval Research, and the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency at the U.S. State Department.

Rozann W. Saaty
She is currently the Executive Director and President of the Creative Decisions Foundation, a charitable organization to promote the cause of rational decision-making, founded by Rozann and her husband, Thomas L. Saaty, in 1996. The Foundation carries out such activities as sponsoring meetings of the bi-annual International Society of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (ISAHP), funding research and development into software using advanced decision making techniques, and other activities to increase awareness of rational decision making methods. She has played an active role in the biennial meetings of the International Society of the Analytic Hierarchy Process and is the managing editor of the online journal that publishes papers on the AHP/ANP, IJAHP. She also publishes books through her company, RWS Publications, on decision-making with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Analytic Network Process (ANP). She directed the development of the software Super Decisions that implements the Analytic Network Process (ANP) for decision making with dependence and feedback. Ms. Whitaker holds a B.S. and an M.S. degree in mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Technology.
